More early settlements in Saint Ann

Drax Hall was an old Sugar Estate which was first settled by Charles Drax an immigrant from Barbados. By his will dated 1721 Drax left Drax Hall and other property for the founding of a charity school in the parish with detailed instructions for its conduct.

Lumsden is said to have been named after William Lumsden, a Scotsman who settled there in the early 18th century.

Lime Hall is said to have been first known as Clark's Town but as there was another place in the parish by that name, when the property was purchased in the 1860s by the reverend Joseph Dussard Ormsby he changed the name to Lime Hall because there was a great number of lime trees there.

Linton Park was named after its first owner of the estate Joseph Linton.

Liberty Hall is said to have received this name when what is known as a Liberty Tree was planted there on the 1st August 1838, in commemoration of the freedom which came on that date to the enslaved people of Jamaica.
